Clocks & Family Heirlooms

When I was growing up my Grandparents had a wooden clock that proudly sat upon their living room fireplace mantel, you had to wind the clock up every few days with a key and of course I was never permitted to go anyplace near it.

That clock came from Ireland with my Grandmother and had become a family Heirloom that was passed on to my mom some years later, it then took up its rightful place upon our living room fireplace mantel, however, by that time the key had been lost, but the clock remained at its station for a good number of years and then it was time to pass it to the next in line who was my Brother who resides in another State, so at this point I have no idea what has become of it because we don’t keep close contact.

I have often thought about purchasing a mantel clock for my own home and am looking at the Collection of Clocks by Howard Miller Clocks.

I think what I remember the most about that old clock was the chimes and that it had its own personality right along with the grandfather clock that sat in their hallway.

To this day I can still hear the chimes from both those clocks that where so much a part of my childhood and my growing up.
