In DEFENSE of School Bus Drivers

Debates 1 Comment

I just heard on the local news about a school bus driver who pleaded guilty to slapping 2 children across the face, of course the parents are not happy with this and feel they got a slap in the face as well since this driver only paid a $300 fine and still has his job.

The job of a school bus driver is the most thankless job in the world, they are expected to maintain their composure while kids call them every name in the book, and some go as far as even spitting on a driver, a driver is accused of things that they don’t do and it becomes a situation where the driver has TO PROVE that they didn’t say or do what they are being accused of.

Most parents believe everything their child tells them, they don’t question it or try to get to the bottom of it, and heaven forbid that they do accuse a driver and later on find out that darling johnny or sarah has lied about the whole deal. Do they then make Sarah or Johnny do what is right and apologize….NO, kids are rarely held accountable for what they do, kids are smart and they know they can work the system to their best advantage.

While I am not condoning the driver slapping anyone, I wonder what was said to him to make him react so negatively.

In a world where you are suppose to be innocent until found guilty, a school bus driver is just exactly the opposite and they are guilty until found innocent and then you are expected to just return to your job, be pleasant, smile and continue to put up with the verbal and sometime’s physical abuse that is directed at YOU.

Pigeon Problems

Debates 1 Comment

It seems that more than one stadium is having problems with the local pigeon population.

The birds are evidently pooping on the fans and into their drinks as well as their food.

Some are even looking into the possibility of stadium employees who are familiar with firearms to be allowed to shoot the birds, they feel this would be a much better and more cost effective way of getting the problem under control.

Internet Addiction leads to child neglect

Debates No Comments

I found this story over at Hey Don where he gives his viewpoint of the situation as well.

After reading the story in depth, I can’t even begin to comprehend any parent being capable of neglecting a child or children in order to play video games, the addiction is being compaired to the same as being addicted to “meth” and stated as being a serious issue that (we) need to become more aware of.

Speaker tells students to have sex & do drugs

Debates 1 Comment

A guest speaker at an assembly at Boulder High School in Colorado has told students as young as 14 to go have sex and use drugs, prompting school officials to say they will investigate.

The instructions came from Joel Becker, an associate clinical professor of psychology at the University of California at Los Angeles.

“I am going to encourage you to have sex and encourage you to use drugs appropriately,” Becker said during his appearance at the school as part of a recent panel sponsored by the University of Colorado’s Conference on World Affairs.

Vitamins and Mineral Supplements - Do We All Need Them ?

Debates No Comments

With all the daily rush we Americans find ourselves in, juggling the kids needs along with our jobs, it is very difficult to assure that our bodies are also well nourished. It seems to be a lot easier to pack these missing needs into a simple pill or two.

Going back in time to American life in the 1950’s, families began purchasing their own dream homes and along with this there sometimes came the need for more than one paycheck and with this less time could be spent for the children which decreased the chance that the wife would have time to prepare a full course family meal after returning home from a part or full-time job. There was also the growth in the food processing industry which had begun during that time with the purpose of feeding more people, which also required that food would have to last for longer periods on the store shelves, along with the fact that the food processors would also increase their profits. With all this change happening in such a short period of time to the American household, something began to suffer and that was proper nutrition of the general population.

Urine Test - Debate

Debates No Comments

“Like a lot of folks in this state I have a job. I work…they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don’t have to pass a urine test. Shouldn’t one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to earn it for them?!

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?????!!!!!!

Private Vs Public Schools ?

Do you think one is definately better than the next, regardless of what your community is/where you live?

Are you pro one only? Why? Why not if not?

This is spurred from a comment said to by several people:”parents care about their children more/love them more if they send them to private school”
