Dear Bear

August 26th, 2008

It been 12 days since your journey to Rainbow Bridge. I hope you have found your trip to be a pleasant one, and that you have found Bootsie, Harley and Missy there, I can imagine how happy they are to see you. You guys have some serious catching up to do….

Tell them how much we miss them, and that we still think of them each and everyday. Tell Missy, that the picture of her with her pizza is still on the kitchen cabinet.

Today, mail came for you Bear….remember your mail don’t you? It says “current resident”….I remember how you would always wag your tail when I told you and showed you that you got mail too.

Your resting place here is beside Bootsie, she would be happy to know that, so please tell her for me. I know you and Bootsie were never the best of friends. Not like you and Missy and Harley, but Bootsie, she still loved you none the less.

Each morning when I walk past your grave, I say good morning to you and then at night I always stop to have a chat with you and then wish you a good night.

Our dear Bear, you are missed so very much, your time with us here, it was just to fast and to short. We know how much you struggled to stay with us, for as long as you could. But your poor sick body just could not hold on any longer.

You have forever left your footprints in our hearts.

So now its time for you to romp in the fields with Bootsie, Harley and Missy.

I will write again later on…..Love Always, Mom,Dad, Matt, Salem and Snowball

PS. Salem still looks for you, I even think Snowball misses you, and you know how she is, but I catch her sleeping in your spot in the living room, that is when Salem isn’t there sleeping in it.

To many Tv commercials

August 26th, 2008

I was watching, or should say trying to watch a movie early this afternoon, I could not get interested in the movie to save my life. I would get up and walk away when a commercial would come on, and if I seen one commercial about acne control, I think I must have seen 20 of them.

I was fortunate when I was a teen, acne was never a problem for me, but it was for my son. But thank heaven, that as he got older, he grew out of it.

We have the Dish Network, and its not cheap by any means, but I do think the commercials are a bit excessive, I know they help to pay to keep the stations on the air, but why don’t they either run the commercials all at the beginning of a movie or at the end?

What was your very 1st Computer

August 20th, 2008

I was just reminded today, of the very 1st computer than I had.

I used to clean homes, as well as offices for a living, one of the homes had an Apple computer that they replaced, so they told me that if I wanted it, I could have it and they just wanted rid of it.

It had a few problems, but one of my sons friends was able to get it running and we only had to replace the mouse.

One thing that I do remember was that it needed a Mac memory upgrade, but for some reason, which right now, I don’t remember what it was, I just went and replaced the computer.

Do you know, I still have that computer, its packed up in a box someplace and just sits and collects dust. I am wondering if I should perhaps just give it away, or try to auction it off at ebay….but I am not even sure what it would be worth either.

Annoying phone calls

August 15th, 2008

Do you get annoying phone calls? I know we sure do, even with the help of the Do Not Call List, we still get phone calls from various other organizations, organizations that for some reason don’t seem to fall under the “Do Not Call List” guideline.

Did you know that if you have caller ID, which I think most of us do , that is all you need, in order to find out who the caller is.

Its basically a very simple process that involves doing what is called a reverse phone lookup.

The service is available to USA as well as Canada residents, and can be used to look up cell phone numbers as well.

And the best part of this service is the fact, that no one will be notified that you did a search to find out who they are.

So if you are still having problems with unwanted phone calls, why not look into this today.

Our Bear has gone to Rainbow Bridge

August 14th, 2008

Bear took a turn for the worst yesterday, and he left us for Rainbow Bridge at 4am this morning. His year long battle with Renal failure is finally over.

He is buried in the yard that he loved to romp in so much, and he is buried right next to Bootsie, one of his cat friends. Salem (cat) is now searching through the house for Bear, they were the best of friends, but I do think that Salem knew yesterday that Bear was in serious trouble. Salem kept coming to Bear and looking at him and then looking at me, as if to ask me what is wrong with our Bear.

Now we have to get used to a house without his presence in it, and its not going to be easy.

School Districts and Transit Routes

August 11th, 2008

Tonights evening news, brought up the fact that so many of the school districts in the area, are having to combine and change routes, and this is because of the high cost to run the buses.

But what is failed to be mentioned, is the fact that most school districts, at least in Pennsylvania run what is called a transit route.

What that means is this….if the school bus is assigned to put on 74 miles per day, it has to log that same mileage every day, an example of a waste of fuel on such a route would be that the bus turns off the main highway to travel at least 20 miles to pick up (1) student, so of course the bus driver would not be aware when the student is sick in the mornings, so of course they would make the trip back to pick up that student…..but this is what really annoys me, they MUST also go back to that stop in the evening, even when that student is not on that bus….this adds up to hundreds of dollars per MONTH in fuel cost.

Of course this fact is never brought up at school board meetings, and why is that you might ask….well that answer is simple, because know one knows about transit routes, that is unless like me, you have been a school bus driver.

This transit route business only started a few years ago, we used to be able to just take the kids home that where on the bus and not have to drive the entire route. And what makes this even worse is the fact that on late activities, if the bus is scheduled to put on 35 miles, its MUST do those 35 miles EVERY EVENING, and that also applies if the bus have NO students that have stayed for late activity, that bus can not return to their garage, they MUST run the entire route EMPTY.

So if you have a student still in school, and if their bus route is changed because of the cost of fuel, why not ask them if they run a transit route and see what their answer might be.

New Furniture

August 10th, 2008

Do you know how nice it is to finally have new, as well as modern furniture?

I don’t own to many things that I have bought that where bought as new items, things have been hand me downs, and some things have even been purchased at garage or estate sales.

This summer has brought a brand new 42″ flat screen TV, a brand new refrigerator, a new washing machine, and the next item will be a new recliner that is needed so badly, and then that will be the end of my purchases for a year or so.

The last time I bought anything new, the cost of the items that I just mentioned about, would have bought me an entire house full of furniture, and YES its been that long.

Stress fractures HURT

August 10th, 2008

My left hip has been bothering me for about a month, Friday it was all I could do to even walk, and it just so happen that I had an appointment with my Chiropractor. He was suspicious of the amount of pain that I was in, so he took an x-ray and found that I have a very small hair line fracture on my hip. So he told me to go home and to take it easy and to avoid sitting when I can. I have to put ice on it to back the pain off, and then alternate that with moist heat. So its feeling some what better, but it still has a ways to be before I can move without any discomfort being involved. I have to go back up again to see the Chiropractor on Monday, I think he is going to do some type of ultrasound therapy on it.

Moving company gets lost.

August 10th, 2008

Its not unusual to have someone that get’s themselves lost in the area, just to pull right into the bottom of our driveway to find out where they are at, and ask directions for whatever town they might be looking for.

There are so many homes up for sale in this area, I think we are about the only family that is left in this that is an original family.

Friday, we had a large van from a New York Moving Company that stopped and ask us for directions to Maysville. I was quite surprised they made it as far as they did before they ran into problems, Maysville is just around 6 miles from us, so once we pointed them in the right direction, off they went with huge smiles on their faces.

Movie night

August 9th, 2008

I signed up with Blockbuster online about a year ago. We have really enjoyed this membership a great deal. Saturday night’s have turned into movie night around here. If Matt doesn’t have any plans for the evening, he will generally come home around 8pm and sit down for a family night.

Tonight we will be putting one of the popcorn machines to good use, grabbing a wine cooler or two and then setting back to watch “The Last Mimzy”.
